Hi Guys, today is my birthday (my 30th.... cough cough) and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate it than taking down all the items donated and bought with the raffle money from the #LeedsMarchMeet.
I actually shed a tear when I was sorting all the products into categories. I couldn't believe how generous everyone was and how much difference a few bloggers could make to a few families lives.
The donations were made to the Welcome Centre in Huddersfield and after taking in a few bags of food just after Christmas and realising just how much my 3 bags were appreciated I knew I had to do something bigger.
People brought cans of food and sample products along to my meet instead of an entry fee and I was blown away with the generosity of everyone.
All the items you can see in the above picture were either donated by people or bought with the raffle money. That's the trolley full, all the bags on the floor and the box on the chairs.
We had a brilliant mix of short stock items including 11 packs of sanitary products, over 20 tins of soup, Razors and a big bag of sweet treats (well Easter is coming up). People also brought in samples of beauty products for treat bags which I think is a brilliant pick me up for the ladies.
When I took them in they were overjoyed with all the bags and gave me a tour of the place and I thought I would share the pictures.
Volunteers spend their time sorting all the products into sections and then putting into bags when people come in needing weekly supplies.
They have individuals using the service to families of 6 so sometimes a lot of food is needed for just one family.
Once again I would just like to say a big thank you for all the support with my meet and I will definitely keep helping this amazing food bank as you never know one day it might be me that needs that little bit of help.
Check out your local food banks and if you have any unwanted beauty samples take them in. You never know that face cream may just put a smile on someones face.
