I don't know about you but usually when i am getting ready to go out or shopping for a certain occasion i just choose what i like and wear it. However i have read on a few occasions that the colours we choose to wear can have an impact on our mood and the message we give out to others, so i thought i would look in to it more and make a list of which colours say what, I hope you find this as interesting as I did. Have a think about the your current mood or the next big occasion you need to plan for and try this out.
Red
Red can really pack a
punch when needed.
Want
to get someone’s attention? Red is your colour! The colour red empowers and
draws attention toward the wearer. It’s also strongly associated with romance
and passion, making it a perfect date-night colour. But be careful – it’s also
been said that red stimulates the appetite and makes us hungry for junk food,
so wear with caution if you’re trying to eat healthier
Wear
red whenever you feel a need to portray confidence or would like to boost your
self esteem.
Blue
Wearing blue helps create
a place of calm and serenity.
Psychologically, blue is the opposite of red.
Blue is a colour that can be both peaceful and calming as well as cold and
standoffish. If you’re feeling really stressed out, the colour blue can help
you feel more relaxed. If you’re sad, however, you might want to steer away –
the colour blue can subconsciously make you feel more “blue.” Studies also show
that blue can make you more creative so if you want to channel some genius for
your art project, wearing blue might be able to help. It can’t hurt, right?
Another
beneficial time to make blue your go-to hue? If you’re going for a job
interview or meeting your partner’s parents for the first time. Blue is
associated with trustworthiness, strength and dependability.
Green
Green is considered to be
one of the most healing among all the colors.
Shades
of green are calm and soothing, as well as associated with nature and the
outdoors. That’s why green is one of spring’s most popular shades. Green is
also refreshing and has been found to reduce stress in those who look at it. If
you’re feeling really overwhelmed during exams or at work then add a little
green to your outfit and you might feel more relaxed
Wear green whenever you are embarking on
something new or wish to turn over a new leaf.
Yellow
Yellow is the
perfect color to wear whenever your spirits needs an uplift
Sunny
shades of yellow are the perfect thing to cheer you up on a bad day, so if
you’re feeling down, wearing yellow could help perk you back up. Yellow is also
associated with intelligence and inspiration, so wearing something yellow on
the day of your big final exam might help you come up with some extra answers.
Yellow
carries the same healing qualities associated with the sun. It offers warmth,
optimism, and light. All shades of yellows and golds will cheer you up and help
make you feel happier.
Orange
Orange urges you to get out into the world and create
something grand
Like red, orange draws attention and energy,
but unlike intense red, it’s a little more soothing. While orange is a
difficult colour for some skin tones to pull off, but if you have the colouring
to work it, orange will help put you in a positive, energetic mood.
Wearing orange is fun and can make you feel
quite playful. Beware, if you need to complete a mundane project avoid wearing
orange as it might interfere with the stick-to-it-ness required to stay on task.
Purple
Wearing purple shows
others that you want to be noticed.
Regal and sophisticated, purple is associated
with creativity and luxury. Like red, purple is a very stimulating colour which can boost your energy
level when you see it. It’s also a colour that’s sometimes associated with
spirituality and intuition, so if you’re having trouble making a decision,
paint your nails lavender and see what comes to you.
The color purple, especially
shades of violet, will definitely make a statement. If it is your desire to
feel special and unique then purple is the right color choice. If you would
like to send a message out into the world that you're one of a kind and that
you could care less about conformity, then wear purple.
Pink
Wearing pink conveys compassion and an open
heart
Of
course we all know pink as the true girly-girl’s favourite colour, but it’s
also associated with romance and happiness. Pink is very calming, so don’t wear
it if you need tons of energy. Because of its romance association, pink is a
good choice for a date. You can also wear it anytime you’re a little bummed out
for a boost. Of course, if you personally hate pink, then (obviously) this
won’t work for you
When
people are wearing pink, whether they are male or female, they appear
approachable and capable of loving others.
Black
Go for a rook chic edge
If you’re going for a promotion at work or
interviewing for a new job, you might want to wear black – it signifies power,
seriousness, authority, and responsibility, all qualities your boss is likely
looking for. Outside the office, black is also a colour that will give you some
rocker-chick edge. If you’re shy but want to feel like a badass one day, some
black studded ankle boots should do the trick!
Wearing black can also help you to keep a
low-profile in social settings if that is your intention. Don't wear black if
you want to stand out in a crowd.
White
Wearing white will help reduce any nagging
feelings of disappointment or drudge
Missing summer on a cold spring day? Wear
white! It reflects light and reminds us of sunnier days. It’s also associated
with peace, innocence, simplicity, and cleanliness. Wear white when you want to
bring out any other colours you’re wearing – it enlivens anything you pair with
it.
White
represents cleansing and new beginnings. Putting on a white blouse feels like
being given an opportunity to start the day with a clean slate.
